About Me

HI! I'm Irene, owner of Little Black Bantam - a Farmington-based floral business, serving the Finger Lakes and Greater Rochester Area. My mission is to create beautiful floral arrangements made from homegrown and locally sourced flowers, while using sustainable growing and design practices, such avoiding use of chemicals, dyes and pesticides on my flowers, foam-free design mechanisms, and responsible composting.

I grew up in a little rural town on Seneca Lake, where I watched my parents lovingly care for their flower gardens. From there, an affinity for flowers was born. From a young age, I would pick handfuls of flowers from the garden and surrounding fields to create wild and whimsical bouquets to give to the people I love. That playfulness can still be seen in my floral arrangements today. In 2022, I officially launched my business (with the loving support of my wonderful husband, Matt, and our two daughters).

The name, Little Black Bantam, is inspired by a childhood pet chicken, Black Olive. Black Olive was, as one might guess, a small black Bantam. She was a dedicated mother - protective yet gentle - and a hard worker and provider. This little hen had so much personality and brought me so much happiness. Her dedication, hard work, and abundant love are themes that resonate with me, and it is my hope that I'll be able to inspire the same kind of love and happiness that she did through my work.

Whatever your flower needs are, it is my goal to provide you with a customizable, memorable, and stunning floral experience!
